Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

River operators such as Water NSW can create easements for the purpose of flooding land for environmental reasons.
The Ministerial Corporation can transfer existing environmental inundation easements to Water NSW via a Gazette notice.
Water NSW automatically takes over all rights, obligations, and legal proceedings associated with a transferred easement.
The Ministerial Corporation must consult with Water NSW before publishing a transfer order.
People claiming compensation for the transfer of an easement are generally ineligible for payment unless the transfer order specifies otherwise.
The transfer of these easements does not trigger breaches of contract, civil wrongs, or events of default.
State tax is not payable on the transfer of easements under a transfer order.
The Registrar-General can amend the land register to reflect the transfer of easements from the Ministerial Corporation to Water NSW.
