Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

The Crown and its agents are prohibited from entering into major construction contracts unless the contract requires that all personnel have no convictions, pending charges, or associations with criminal organisations.
Parties to a major construction contract may request criminal history and gang affiliation data from the Chief Commissioner of Police for prospective employees.
The Chief Commissioner of Police must provide the requested criminal and gang association information to parties of major construction contracts and keep a record of the disclosure.
Union management for construction employees must ensure that applicants for occupational health and safety entry permits have no convictions, pending charges, or associations with criminal organisations.
Members of the committee of management for these employee organisations may request a person's criminal history from the Chief Commissioner of Police to vet permit applicants.
The Chief Commissioner of Police must comply with requests for criminal history information from registered employee organisations and maintain a record of the information provided.
