Effects of this bill

If this bill passes, it means that:

Electricity and gas retailers commit an offence if they fail to add life support customer details to the register within one business day of notification.
Electricity and gas retailers commit an offence if they fail to perform their duties regarding life support customers within specified time frames.
The Governor in Council may make regulations allowing regulators to share confidential and personal information regarding Retailer of Last Resort events.
A failed national retailer's Victorian retail licence is automatically revoked if the AER revokes their retailer authorisation due to a specified national Retailer of Last Resort event.
The Essential Services Commission is prohibited from revoking a retail licence based on a national Retailer of Last Resort event if the AER has not revoked the retailer's authorisation.
Specific parts of the National Energy Retail Law are applied as the laws of Victoria.
