Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Minister can appoint acting chairpersons and members to the Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Board and the Melbourne Cricket Ground Trust to cover vacancies or illness.
The Minister can delegate the power to approve non-major leases over State Sport Centres land to the Department Secretary or a departmental executive.
The Minister can delegate the power to make floodlight determinations for the Melbourne Cricket Ground to the Department Secretary or a departmental executive.
The Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust is permitted to pay fees to members who are employees of Tennis Australia Limited or the Victorian Tennis Association.
Decisions made by the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust remain valid even if there were faults in the appointment or term of an acting chairperson or member.
The State Netball and Hockey Centre Advisory Committee is abolished, and its members no longer receive pay or compensation for losing their office.
The Minister can appoint a member of the Melbourne and Olympic Parks Trust to act as chairperson during a vacancy or period of illness.
