Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Authority may suspend or cancel a non-Government school's registration if the proprietor becomes insolvent or is wound up and it is in the public interest or the best interests of students.
The Authority may cancel a non-Government school's registration if the school has stopped operating or notifies the Authority it will stop within 30 days.
The Authority must provide non-Government schools with written notice and a chance to make submissions before suspending or cancelling their registration.
The Governor in Council may remove the chairperson of the AMES Australia Board at any time.
The Minister may remove any board member of AMES Australia, other than the chairperson, at any time.
Pool members must resign from office by providing a signed written notice to the Minister.
