Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
The Authority may give directions about who a serious offender lives with and who is allowed at their residence during specific hours.
The definition of authorised persons expands to include staff from the Department of Justice, Department of Health, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, and various police agencies.
The Secretary to the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing and the Secretary to the Department of Health are now classified as responsible agencies.
The Authority no longer needs to provide a specific direction for certain suggested conditions under the Serious Offenders Act 2018 to be made.
The definition of relevant Act is broadened to include legislation such as the Bail Act 1977 and the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013.
The heading for victim submissions is changed to simply Submissions.
