Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Persons are prohibited from entering into arrangements for labour hire services with a provider that does not hold a licence.
The Labour Hire Licensing Authority must consider a person's criminal history, insolvency status, and professional integrity when deciding if they are a fit and proper person for a licence.
Labour hire service providers are defined as those conducting a business where the primary purpose of an arrangement is the supply of labour.
Recruitment and placement providers are classified as labour hire providers if they also procure or provide accommodation for the workers.
Licence applicants must use an approved form and provide a declaration that they are financially viable.
Financial viability is defined as having the means to pay debts as and when they become due.
