Registered medical or nurse practitioners may start a conversation about voluntary assisted dying if it occurs during a discussion about end-of-life care and the patient is informed about palliative care options.
Medical or nurse practitioners who fail to follow the rules for initiating voluntary assisted dying discussions are deemed to have engaged in unprofessional conduct.
