Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
takeaway businesses cannot serve a customer a beverage in a single-use cup if the customer presents a reusable cup for that purpose
takeaway businesses must offer reuse-scheme reusable cups for beverages and cannot charge extra for using a reusable or reuse-scheme cup
releasing balloons outdoors is prohibited from a single balloon — the previous threshold of 20 balloons is removed
container deposit scheme: Scheme Coordinator agreements are capped at a total term of 20 years including extensions; processing refund agreements with material recovery facilities must be in place before refund amounts are paid
further amendments to plastic reduction, contaminated land, pesticides, and environment protection laws for consistency and clarity
