Effects of this bill
If this bill passes, it means that:
Police memorials erected in public places by local councils or government agencies are now protected places under the Summary Offences Act 1988, on the same legal footing as war memorials.
Wilfully damaging or defacing a police memorial is a criminal offence.
Committing a nuisance or an offensive or indecent act in, on, or in connection with a police memorial is a criminal offence.
